Advantages and Disadvantages of the Articles of Confederation.

The Articles of Confederation had pros and cons, just like any other document. Though, with this text, the cons seemed more prominent. The main advantage in the Articles was their sucsess in making a framework for holding the 13 states together after the Revolutionary War. Though there are certain to be other, but not many, advantages, this is likely to be the most important. In comparison, the disadvantages in the Aritcles of Confederation are seemlessly endless. One would be the inability of taxing, which led to the incapability to pay off debts. Another disadvantage was that they could not regulate trade, which furthermore damaged the economy of the budding country. The government could not recruit an army, and couldn't defend themselves, which humiliated the new country, making themsleves seem defenseless and helpless. Congress was unable to pass much-needed laws, because they couldn't get the acceptance of the required nine states, and thus chaos erupted.
